Positive words add value and can affect a person’s psyche, which can be quite uplifting when used rightly at the appropriate time. For instance, try to recall a positive comment someone made about you and ruminate on it. Do you notice how it made you feel good inside? This is the potency associated with positive words. They are not mere utterances strung together to create a conversation. When we hear them they move past our auditory organs and begin to sink into our beings to the extent that

Wisdom For Everyday Life is an inspirational video with fifteen quotes about life. Posted here too is the list of quotes which are used in the two and a half minute motivational video for you. For example, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -H. Jackson Brown Jr. Thank you for making the

Success at anything has a spillover effect on other things. Becoming good at things that require nothing but practice. Once you become good at a few unimportant things, the habit of success stays with you on more important quests. When you’ve tasted success, you want more. And the wanting gives you the sort of energy that is critical to success. My so-called talent was little more than the result of insane hours of practice.

Even if you are born with talents or qualities that help, you still need to do what everyone does who excels at something: practice and study. You need to learn what makes you better, then practice it. And practice. Get coaching if needed to learn how to practice more. Get inspired by something and use it to help you focus. No one becomes an expert "by accident."

There are several things to learn from that story. The most important is the transformative power of praise versus the corrosive impact of criticism. I've had a number of occasions since then to test the powers of praise, and I find it an amazing force, especially for adults. Children are accustomed to a continual stream of criticism and praise, but adults can go weeks without a compliment while enduring criticism both at work and at home. Adults are starved for a kind word. When you understand

The most effective praise is one where you explain to the person what that person had done "well" and why this matters to you and others. For example, let's say there was a volatile situation at a meeting and the person being confronted was able to neutralize the situation. Rather than say, "That would have been some blow-up in the meeting! I'm glad you handled it well," a specific and effective

My friend used to always say, if your brain wasn’t so dirty, it wouldn’t need to be washed! Our brains are surrounded by toxicity all day. Negative events on the news. Negative people. Negative TV shows. Negative articles on the internet. Negative parents. Negative teachers. Negative friends. Negative everything. Since everything around us is so negative, positive thoughts come much like a s

The more time I spend at university the more I realize how the knowledge I acquire and have is no greater than of an active, curious, open-minded human who did not spend any of her/his time in " higher education " within an "instutition" such as university. Is institutional education the "right" type of education?

I went the traditional education route after high school and ended up earning a BA in Criminal Justice. I think the reason I went that route is because of societal pressures and expectations, I was always a good student so everyone around me assumed and advised me to go to college. I graduated not feeling nearly ready enough to be successful in this world. I think traditional higher education is

In the video below, I take a look at how we can be our worst enemies when it comes to living to our fullest potential. Self sabotage is more common than you may think. We are beings who are scared beyond belief at our own power. Say what? It’s true. A lot of us not only have a fear of failure but a fear of success too. It’s sometimes more comfortable to stay in the box and never have anyone (or ourselves) expect anything more of us. It’s just too much trouble to venture out and dare to
